Williams was actually linked with a Liverpool exit, with a £10 million fee said to be enough to convince Klopp’s side to sell by Goal over the summer.
The Reds never got their asking price from any interested party, and it may be that his value has just risen.
Williams may not be a permanent starter, but he is now proving that he is more than capable of covering for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool’s win last night actually showed the quality that they do have beneath their starting line-up.
Klopp made multiple changes at the San Siro, but they were still able to pick up victory.
And Williams was one of a number of players who excelled after being thrown into the team by Klopp.
