Sky Sports subscriptions might go up if Arsenal sign Joao Felix this summer.
No, not because fans of English football are utterly desperate to see the Atletico Madrid attacker in the Premier League.
But because there’ll be interest in seeing just how brutal Roy Keane can get when doing punditry about the Portugal international, based on last summer.
According to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, as covered by HITC Sport, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign the 22-year-old sensation, who cost £113 million in 2019 [BBC Sport].
However, Felix didn’t exactly look like a £113 million footballer at the European Championships last summer – and Keane made headlines for pointing this out in a very Keane-esque manner.
Portugal were dumped out of Euro 2020 by Belgium at the last-16 phase of the competition.
And speaking to ITV Sport after the game, this is what the Manchester United icon said of the reported Arsenal target.
He said: “That guy’s an imposter! He’s an imposter! Your country needs you. He comes on – hit the target! £100million?! If I was Ronaldo, I’d be going after him in the dressing room. Shocking!”
Imposter?
Well, that’s perhaps a little harsh from the Irishman.
Even if Felix struggled against the Belgians on that occasion, he’s a magnificent talent and his header against Manchester United in the Champions League last month was a major reminder of that.
Attacking players will be the order of the day for Arsenal during the upcoming transfer window.
And if the Gunners land a player like Felix then, honestly, it’s a massive addition for the Emirates Stadium outfit, regardless of how Keane feels about him.
