Tottenham face Liverpool today in a headline Premier League fixture for this weekend, yet it appears that Antonio Conte’s side will be very short-staffed if reports are to be true.

According to the Daily Mail, the Italian manager has resorted to using mannequins in training to make up for the number of players currently absent from Hotspur Way.

Tottenham were one of the first clubs to be hit with a new wave of Covid-19 cases. And the north London side are seemingly still very affected by the outbreak, with the club having three matches postponed in the past two weeks.

The Omicron variant is ripping through the United Kingdom at a devastating pace, with the Independent reporting on Saturday that a record 90,000 Covid cases were confirmed on Friday.

And football has been hit hard in England by the new wave. All but one Premier League was postponed yesterday whilst 19 EFL games were called off as well due to Covid-19 outbreaks.

Indeed, there is a strong chance that matches in England could be postponed given the number of clubs being struck down by the virus, with Tottenham and Liverpool fans still not convinced today’s match will go ahead.

Yet Conte seems determined to play given his new method in training, and Spurs fans saw the funny side of the Italian coach’s new way of increasing numbers.
