Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has shared what he knows about Arthur Melo and Arsenal’s recent interest.
The Gunners have been linked with a loan move for the Brazilian in recent weeks, but according to Jones, Arthur isn’t too interested in a loan.
Indeed, the journalist claims that Arthur is actually very keen on Arsenal and that he can imagine himself being a part of the long-term project that is being built at the Emirates, but he doesn’t think a short-term switch would do him any favours.

Jones shared what he knows about the Juventus midfielder.
“The player needs convincing that this is the right move for him. What I’m told from a contact in Italy is that he can imagine himself becoming a part of this Arsenal project, but not for four or five months,” Jones said.
“For a player like him to make that switch from Serie A to the Premier League and settle into the side and the style of football and become a part of the team, without knowing whether or not he’s going to be staying, that’s not really what he’s looking for and from what I’m told, he wants a longer-term deal.
“With Juventus, if he’s going to go, they’d prefer it to be permanent. Arteta definitely likes him, Allegri would take him or leave him to be honest. It’s doable, and it’s certainly more doable than Vlahovic ever was.”
Can’t blame him
You really can’t blame Arthur for wanting some assurances on his future.
Arsenal are a very intriguing club for any player right now, but it has to be said, a six-month stay at the Emirates isn’t all that appealing.
Arsenal, barring an absolute miracle in the Premier League, will not be challenging for any silverware this season, while moving to a new country is always tough, especially in these times.
Arthur can envisage himself being a part of Arteta’s project, but whether or not Arsenal want him to be is another story.
