Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react over photographs of Antonio Conte grabbing a bite to eat for dinner last night.
Tottenham were supposed to take on Rennes in North London for a Europa Conference League outing.
However, UEFA agreed to postpone the game due to a major COVID outbreak at the Lilywhites’ Hotspur Way training ground.
As many as 20 first-team players, coaching staff and under-23 personnel are reported by Di Marzio in Italy to have returned positive coronavirus tests, with the Premier League also cancelling their contest with Brighton & Hove Albion for a similar reason.
With a bit of downtime on his hands, Conte, who became Tottenham’s new manager last month, was spotted going for a pizza last night and, well, some Spurs supporters have offered a mixed reaction to it.
Big deal?
Erm, nope.
The Italian manager passionately spoke about the situation at Tottenham a little earlier this week.
The 52-year-old cut an emotional figure as he addressed a press conference on the Wednesday, prior to the Rennes clash.
If the Tottenham manager – who does not have the coronavirus – was told to isolate or avoid a public setting, that is precisely what the former Inter Milan and Chelsea trainer would have done.
However, the fact he ventured out beyond Hotspur Way is testament to the idea that he was actually, you know, permitted to go and find a bite to eat for himself.
Conte has not flouted any guidelines and therefore criticism is a bit, well, ridiculous.
