Kostas Tsimikas had a very good game for Liverpool tonight.

The Reds hammered Norwich City 3-0 at Carrow Road to begin their Premier League season in style.

Tsimikas’s presence in the first XI might’ve caused Liverpool fans some anxiety, with Andy Robertson sidelined through injury.

But fans of the Anfield club praised the Greek left-back on Twitter during the game.

That’s because going forward, he looked a real handful for the Canaries and a real asset for Jurgen Klopp’s side in that regard.

Defensively, it was another matter and one lapse of concentration in the second half almost cost Liverpool, with one City player nicking the ball off him before shooting over the bar.

And Lee Dixon claimed on commentary for NBC Sport that Klopp was angry with the player on the touchline.

He said: “I’ve just had a look over at Jurgen Klopp and he was looking for a water bottle to throw at his left-back, I’m pretty sure.”

Reassuring

The former Olympiaos player has things to work on but, on the whole, it was a really encouraging display from Tsimikas.

Robertson won’t be back for about a month due to ankle ligament damage but Liverpool fans could – and should – be a little more reassured than they were when the Scot initially got injured, earlier in August.

Tsimikas’s biggest problem tonight was concentration, but these are things that can – and no doubt will – be ironed out.
