Arsenal are reportedly one of the many top sides around Europe keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the German international is on the radar for Mikel Arteta’s side. However, a plethora of clubs are also eager to sign the teenager, such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Wirtz is regarded as one of Germany’s top talents after breaking through at Leverkusen in the 2019/20 season. And this campaign has seen the 18-year-old go up another level, with the prospect scoring four and assisting four in all competitions.
Indeed, Arsenal face a mighty battle to secure the services of Wirtz. Edu Gaspar could have his work cut out, with numerous UEFA Champions League clubs all vying to sign the playmaker.
The Gunners went big this summer on upgrading their squad as well as lowering the average age, with every signing being under 23-years-old. Meaning Wirtz suits the profile for what Arsenal are looking for.
The midfielder has been in stunning form this campaign and could well be a potential superstar in the making. After all, Wirtz has effectively replaced Kai Havertz at Leverkusen following his move to Chelsea last year.
