Lucas Moura has been speaking to Sky Sports about Antonio Conte, where he shared his thoughts on the Italian’s ketchup ban at Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, as you may have heard, Conte banned the Spurs players from eating ketchup shortly after he arrived to replace Nuno Espirito Santo.
It was a decision which Emerson Royal has also commented on, telling Sky Sports that he was more upset that Conte had banned butter.
Now, Lucas has spoken out on the 52-year-old’s decision.
The £23m man told Sky Sports: “I’m okay with that. I love ketchup but even before Conte I didn’t have it every day. We need to be smart and we need to be professional.”
In truth, the Tottenham squad can’t really argue with Conte’s decision.
Ketchup is known to cause weight gain, and is also said to serve no other purpose than to simply enrich the flavour of food.
Therefore, it’s not exactly a necessity at Hotspur Way, and as Conte aims to make marginal gains in N17, it was a sensible decision to ban it.
Lucas is improving at Tottenham

Since Conte replaced Nuno, a number of players have visibly improved, including Lucas.
The 29-year-old scored and provided two assists in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, while also scoring in the Carabao Cup win over West Ham.
Lucas has certainly taken his game up a level since Conte arrived, and it’s exciting to think about how good he can become under the Italian.

The Tottenham No.27 now has five goals and five assists in all competitions this season, which is a respectable return.
If any Premier League clubs still have ketchup in their canteen, it’s time to get rid of it seeing how well Lucas is doing without the popular condiment.
