Is Nicolo Zaniolo joining Tottenham Hotspur?
Well, that’s what the speculation has been for the past few weeks.
Nobody is linked with a transfer to Spurs more than the Roma attacker at this moment in time.
On Tuesday, it was reported in Italy that the Serie A outfit had rejected a £46 million offer from Tottenham to sign the player.
Prior to that, it was claimed by AS Roma Live that the Lilywhites had accepted the fact that they wouldn’t be able to get Zaniolo on the cheap by offering somebody in return, like Japhet Tanganga or Tanguy Ndombele.
However, the North Londoners might be walking away from this venture.
That’s according to journalist Dean Jones, who has told Give Me Sport that he believes Spurs are unlikely to continue jump through hoops for Jose Mourinho and Tiago Pinto over in the Italian capital.
He said: “Zaniolo is still one there. I’d say they’re exploring rather than really prioritising at this point. They would like him, but certain conditions have to be met, and I’m not sure Tottenham are going to meet all of them.”

So, is Nicolo Zaniolo joining Tottenham Hotspur?
Based on Jones’s comments, potentially not.
And honestly, Tottenham are probably right to explore alternative targets if they feel they have a more realistic chance of actually signing them.
Remember, it’s been widely reported that Roma wanted £42 million for Zaniolo.
So the speculation about them having an offer of £46 million knocked back is, well, a little ominous.
It’s entirely possible that Roma are trying to milk the player for all he’s worth, which is relatively normal in negotiations, but Tottenham walking away negotiations over inflated prices is also common in football and maybe, just maybe, it’s happening again.
