Nicolo Zaniolo joining Tottenham Hotspur is becoming more of a possibility.
Speculation is rife that Spurs are desperate to sign the Roma attacker this summer and on Friday it was reported that Tiago Pinto was holding negotiations in London.
The clock, however, is ticking and Tottenham will want to get it wrapped up as soon as possible.
But there’s been a development, according to a report.
AS Roma Live have reported in Italy that the North Londoners have accepted the Serie A outfit’s terms when it comes to Zaniolo and will decide over the next three or four days whether to lodge an official offer.
Tottenham accept that they must either cough up £42 million for the 23-year-old or else agree to sign him permanently next summer if a season-long loan can be arranged this time around.
The prospect of a swap deal has been mooted too but the report has stated that no Lilywhites player will be going in the opposite direction as part of the same transaction.
The Premier League club, who kicked off their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Southampton today, released their squad numbers on Friday.
And in it, the number 22 was a notable omission, the same number Zaniolo wears in Italy.
This could be a coincidence, of course, but the truth is that the prospect of Nicolo Zaniolo joining Tottenham Hotspur is becomnig more real all the time and it’ll be interesting to see if the reported acceptance of Roma’s terms leads to a breakthrough.
