Arsenal goalkeeper and new fan favourite Aaron Ramsdale has admitted that he is loving his connection with the Emirates Stadium supporters this season.
Speaking to AFC Wimbledon’s official website, the £24m summer signing from Sheffield United claimed that he is enjoying the bond he has already formed with his new club’s fans. Ramsdale has become Arsenal’s number one since September.
Indeed, it is easy to forget that there was plenty of concern following Ramsdale’s arrival to Arsenal in August. However, in just over two months, the 23-year-old keeper has managed to wipe away any doubt.
Arsenal are unbeaten whenever Ramsdale has started. Moreover, Mikel Arteta’s side have conceded just four Premier League goals in the six games the England international has featured in.
The former Wimbledon star is growing into his element in north London. However, for Ramsdale, the thing he is loving most about life at Arsenal is his connection with supporters, who have taken him in with open arms.
Ramsdale said: “I’m loving the connection I’ve got with the fans there, like I did here [at Wimbledon]. But ultimately, they are not the ones picking the team. If I keep the manager happy, which I’m doing now, I’ll be doing well.”
Ramsdale is defying expectations at Arsenal this season

When the young goalkeeper arrived in north London following a second season going down with a Premier League club, Arsenal supporters were initially suspicious of Ramsdale. Yet now, the shot-stopper finds himself as one of the team’s most beloved players.
The youngster’s passion between the sticks is something that has not been seen for some time. And Ramsdale’s performances for the Gunners have been crucial in recent weeks as the north London side continue to climb the Premier League table.
