Who will finish in the Premier League top-four this season? Those Champions League spots are all so valuable and it’s probably a battle between Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Well, Michael Owen picked the usual top two, Chelsea and Spurs for his early prediction at the start of the new Premier League season.
But the former striker told Premier League Productions that he is now having to ‘re-think’ that previous call because Arsenal are making ‘massive progress’.
Over the weekend, Mikel Arteta’s side secured four wins from four when they came from behind to beat newly-promoted Fulham at the Emirates.
The atmosphere inside the dressing between the players, the joyous scenes between the fans and the connection between fans and the club is the best it has been for many, many years.
That was touched upon by Owen and he was also asked how he thinks will Arsenal fair when they face Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City during the month of October given their strong start.
“If they keep this team spirit, this togetherness between fans and players, then I think they will fair fine,” said Owen.
“Let’s not pretend they are there. They are nowhere near Manchester City. They are nowhere near Liverpool just yet. But I tell you what, they are getting closer.
“And I personally thought it would be Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham for the top four at the start of the season. Now I am having to re-think. This team looks like it is going to burst into that. So, that’s massive progress.”
STRONG EARLY BLOWS
After the hype of the summer transfer window, and more is probably yet to come, added with a strong pre-season, both Arsenal and Spurs have landed some strong early blows.
Antonio Conte’s side have had the tougher start because they faced Chelsea a number of weeks ago and now they will take on another London rival in West Ham United.
For the Gunners, they have every chance to make it five wins from five when out-of-form Aston Villa visit the Emirates on Wednesday night.
But then it’s the small matter of facing Manchester United, and whilst they lost their opening two matches, things have started to pick up for Eric ten Hag and his players.
