Stephen Warnock has suggested that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ‘happy’ at Arsenal and he doesn’t want to leave, as he told the Football Show on Sky Sports.

The Sky pundit stated that Arsenal are in another ‘Mesut Ozil situation’ with Aubameyang, who earns a reported ‘£350k-a-week’, according to the former England left-back.

After Mikel Arteta axed Aubameyang as captain, he hasn’t kicked a ball since for the senior side and is not even seemingly training with the first team.

Added with that, there are also suggestions that the Gabon star could be heading for the Emirates exit door come January.

But Warnock feels it’s going to be difficult to prise the 32-year-old away from north London.

“This is the problem they had with Ozil when they paid him reportedly £350,000-a-week,” said Warnock.

“They have done the same with Aubameyang and they find themselves in the same situation. I don’t think anyone is going to pay those wages. They may have to subsidise it, pay a percentage and then it might get him out.

“It depends how he feels. He strikes me, and this is the way I look at it when I see him on social media, he seems very happy. It’s almost like ‘why wouldn’t you be?

“You’re earning all that money. Living in London. You can just walk around the streets and be just a normal person because that’s it’s so multi-cultural. He might say ‘I am happy here. I am not going anywhere’.

“We need to remember, the player has the contract. He signed it. It’s not like a manager. You can’t just sack him. That’s the problem Arsenal find themselves in.”

It’s pretty simple, it’s going to end either two ways, Aubameyang leaves next month without blinking an eye.

Or he just sits out on the sidelines until the end of the season and rightfully continue to see out his contract which Arsenal gave to him.

In this case, Arsenal can’t be criticised for giving him such a bumper deal because he was in such blistering form and had just played a major part in the club winning the FA Cup.

Many were calling for the Gunners to do the right thing and keep him on – and so they did – but they didn’t expect such a drop-off from the player.

Now Arteta has had to deal with the situation and years of crying for leadership, he is showcasing it bucket loads and not taking any nonsense.
