Borussia Monchengladbach star and reported Newcastle United transfer target Matthias Ginter refutes claims is joining Bayern Munich, he told RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland.
The Germany international has poured cold on speculation that he has already agreed on terms to join the Bundesliga giants, ahead of his Fohlen contract expiring in the summer.
Gladbach announced in December this season will be Ginter’s final year at Borussia-Park after failing to agree a new deal. The centre-half has been a key figure at the North Rhine-Westphalia side since joining from Borussia Dortmund for an initial €17m (£14m) in 2017.

Bayern Munich are among the clubs now considering capitalising on Ginter’s situation to strengthen their backline under Julian Nagelsmann. But Inter Live have claimed Newcastle are also keen and have the funds to blow Der FCB out the water to agree Ginter’s transfer.
Newcastle target Matthias Ginter refutes claims he’s agreed Bayern Munich switch
Ginter is shutting no avenue for his future ahead of his Borussia Monchengladbach terms expiring in June, but the Newcastle target refutes suggestions that his transfer to Bayern Munich is already agreed. Instead, he wants to keep his options open for the time being.
“I don’t know where the rumours come from that a move to Bayern Munich is certain,” he said. “I haven’t made a decision about my future yet.

“It’s also open at the moment whether it’s at home or abroad. There are different options and I’m curious to see which ones there will be in the end.”
Ginter has helped Gladbach to keep three clean sheets over his 23 Bundesliga appearances so far this season. The 2021/22 campaign has proven tough for Die Fohlen after losing boss Marco Rose to Dortmund last year. Adi Hutter has so far only taken nine wins in 27 games.
The financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic sparked the Borussia-Park outfit’s decision to let Ginter leave, however. Now, the defender must potentially decide between fighting for a place in the Bayern backline or earning more in a free transfer to Newcastle.
