Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Folarin Balogun not being included in the squad against Newcastle United.

Arsenal took on Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Balogun, who recently signed a new contract with the Gunners, was not included in the matchday squad.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started for the Gunners, while Gabriel Martinelli was also included in the starting lineup.

Alexandre Lacazette is injured and did not play, while fellow striker Eddie Nketiah started the game on the substitutes’ bench.

Some Arsenal fans on Twitter were left stunned at manager Mikel Arteta deciding not to include Balogun even in the matchday squad.

Below are some of the best comments on Twitter:

Balogun is only 19 years of age. The striker does not have any experience in the Premier League, although he has played in the Europa League for Arsenal.

According to WhoScored, the England Under-20 international striker has scored two goals and provided one assist in five substitute appearances in the Europa League for the Gunners this campaign.

Perhaps Arsenal manager Arteta wants to keep Balogun fresh for the second leg of the Europa League semi-final tie against Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium in North London this week.

Or maybe Arteta wants to save the youngster for next season. Perhaps the Spaniard wants Balogun to have a good pre-season and be a key figure in the squad for the 2021-22 campaign.
