Dutch giants Ajax are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham attacker Steven Bergwijn, who only joined the Premier League side last year.
According to De Telegraaf chief reporter Valentijn Driessen via Football Oranje, the Eredivise leaders are keen to bring the Spurs winger back to the Netherlands after failing to break into either Nuno Espirito Santo or Antonio Conte’s plans.
Bergwijn signed for Spurs in January of 2020 for a reported fee of £27m. With the winger one of the last players former manager Jose Mourinho ever signed for the club.
Yet despite arriving with plenty of promise and a dream debut against Manchester City, Bergwijn has failed to settle to life in England. And now, a return to Holland is on the cards.
The attacker has played just 474 minutes for Spurs. With Bergwijn spending most of his time this season on the bench, even with Tottenham competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Indeed, Bergwijn’s time at Spurs seems to be coming to an end, and with Ajax, an opportunity to return to his home country seems likely in the January transfer window.
Spurs fans beg Ajax to sign Bergwijn in January

With Ajax seemingly keen on Bergwijn, Spurs fans on social media are urging the club to sell the attacker in the winter. With supporters keen for Fabio Paratici to allow the winger to leave.
Bergwijn has been a disappointment for Spurs. And with both Nuno and Conte not fans of the Dutch international, the attacker is much better off leaving for greener pastures in January.
