“If Spurs had Klopp”: Simon Jordan makes interesting claim about Liverpool & Tottenham

Simon Jordan has made an interesting claim about Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool and Tottenham while speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT.

What’s the story?

Well, the 55-year-old was discussing the topic of Spurs as the north Londoners find themselves clouded in uncertainty, namedropping Klopp into the conversation with Antonio Conte expected to leave N17.

Jordan said: “There’s nothing stopped Tottenham winning the FA Cup. Not Daniel Levy or anybody else, besides endeavour and commitment on the day. There’s everything stopping them winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

“The Liverpool model is exactly the same (as Tottenham’s). The only difference between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur is Jürgen Klopp. If Tottenham had Klopp working with Daniel Levy, he’d have worked the oracle.”

We can see where Jordan is coming from.

Maybe Klopp truly is the difference between Liverpool & Tottenham

Levy – like Fenway Sports Group at Anfield – doesn’t spend as much as those in charge of Manchester City do, but he does invest enough in new signings, such as the £60m spent on Richarlison in July and the £39m on Pedro Porro in January.

However, Tottenham change their manager too often for these investments to take shape.

For example, Mauricio Pochettino spent £63m on Tanguy Ndombele, only for Conte to decide he didn’t want him and shipped the Frenchman off on loan to Napoli.

Pochettino also spent £25m on Ryan Sessegnon, before José Mourinho replaced him with another expensive left-back of his own in the £27m Sergio Reguilon. Now the latter has been loaned to Atlético Madrid by Conte.

There is too much chopping and changing, with the current squad constructed by a number of different coaches.

In regards to Liverpool, the Reds have contrastingly had Klopp holding the reins since 2015, and the German has signed almost every player at Anfield right now.

If Spurs can find someone to replace Conte who goes on to have a similar impact to Klopp at Liverpool, it goes without saying that there will be less pressure on Levy.
