Paul Merson has said on Sky Sports News (5:18pm, February 11, 2023) that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will not be able to win the Premier League title this season if they lose to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City next week.
Arsenal have played out a 1-1 draw with Brentford at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The result in the London derby means that the Gunners are now at the top of the league table with 51 points from 21 matches.
Mikel Arteta’s side are six points clear of second-placed and defending champions Manchester City.
City will lock horns with Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
On Wednesday evening, Arsenal will face Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.
Former Arsenal star Merson believes that if City win against Villa and then against the Gunners, then they will go on to win the league title.

Merson said:” If Manchester City go and win the game, I don’t see Arsenal coming back from there.”

Staying positive
In our view, Arsenal fans should stay positive.
Yes, Manchester City could win their next two Premier League matches, but that does not mean that the Gunners will not win the title.
After all, Arsenal have done well so far this campaign.
True, results and performances against Everton and Brentford were poor, but you cannot seriously expect Arsenal to play well and win each and every game.
There is/was bound to be a spell when they are not at their best.
