Stan Collymore has written on CaughtOffSide that Chelsea could make a move for Jurgen Klopp if Liverpool decide to sack him now.

The former Liverpool striker wants Klopp to continue as the manager of the Merseyside club, and he believes that if current owners FSG do sack the German boss, then Premier League rivals Chelsea could hire him even though they sacked Thomas Tuchel earlier this season and brought in Graham Potter from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Collymore has named the other clubs who would want to hire Klopp if the Liverpool manager became available now.

The pundit wrote: “The reality is, if FSG sack Klopp, there is no one else out there better equipped to do a better job, so anyone calling for him to go should be careful what they wish for because I’m certain that if he suddenly became available, you’d have Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and even Chelsea all lining up.”

Klopp over Potter?

Now, we do not think that Liverpool will sack Jurgen Klopp now.

No way.

What would that achieve?

Would a new manager be able to take the current group of players into the Premier League top four?

No.

Now, you may say what about sacking Klopp at the end of the season?

Again, what would that achieve?

If FSG were planning to make a summer overhaul, then they would be better off sticking with Klopp and not bringing in someone new for a fresh start.

Collymore, though, does have a point about Chelsea and Klopp.

Yes, Chelsea hired Potter only a few months ago, but the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners will surely make a move for Klopp if he became available.

It would make sense to bring in a world-class manager given the investment Chelsea made in the playing squad in the summer of 2022 and in the January transfer window.

Now, the big question is would Klopp leave Liverpool now and take charge of Chelsea in the near future.

We do not think so.
