Arsenal could reportedly have Matteo Guendouzi back at the club next summer, but only if Olympique Marseille are relegated from Ligue 1.
According to L’Equipe, the French giants have a mandatory clause to sign the 22-year-old midfielder in 2022. However, Guendouzi could become inaccessible for Marseille if they drop down to Ligue 2.
Guendouzi has enjoyed a brilliant season for the French giants. The midfielder has captained the side this month, and his form has seen the youngster return to the French national team.
Indeed, his performances have caught the eye of many this season. But for Arsenal fans, it has only left them yearning for Guendouzi to return to north London next year.
However, with Marseille currently third in Ligue 1 and the French club only ever being relegated from the top flight twice in their history, the odds on Guendouzi returning to Arsenal are basically nil.
The midfielder is set to join Marseille for just €11m (£9.3m). Given his performances this season, Arsenal have missed out on a huge payday for Guendouzi.
