The World Heavyweight Championship was brought back by WWE in 2023, with Seth Rollins crowned the inaugural champion.
He eventually lost it to Drew McIntyre in April 2024 before winning the belt a second time in August 2025 when he cashed in on CM Punk.
However, he had to vacate the title after picking up an injury, and after beating Punk at WrestleMania 42, Roman Reigns is now the champion.
Now he has the belt, Roman has said that he has made the title relevant, a claim Seth has hit back at.

Seth Rollins says Roman Reigns ‘sounds like an idiot’ talking about making his title relevant
In an interview with Prince St. Pizza, he expressed his displeasure at having to see Roman and Punk competing for the World Heavyweight Championship at Mania.
He went on to say Roman is an ‘idiot’ for what he has said about the World Heavyweight title.
Rollins said: “So you’ve got two of my worst enemies fighting each other for my title in my main event, and I have to watch that. I have to swallow that. So it’s really difficult for me to feel any which way other than disgusted by the result.
“So now Roman Reigns is walking around with my title, talking about how he made the title relevant, which is ——–. It’s complete ——–. He knows it, I know it, everybody else knows it. He sounds like an idiot when he says it.”
Since it was reintroduced, the title has felt slightly below the Undisputed WWE Championship.
There were periods when McIntyre and Jey Uso held the belt, which did make it feel like a secondary attraction.
But during times when Seth, Punk and now Reigns have been champions, it has felt much bigger.
Who will eventually take the belt off Roman is hard to predict, but as the old saying goes, the title doesn’t make the guy, the guy makes the title.
