Tim Sherwood has claimed that he would ‘rather have a season ticket at Newcastle United‘ rather than at Tottenham Hotspur, but he thinks Spurs finish higher in the Premier League because of Harry Kane.

The former Tottenham boss added that Newcastle players enjoy playing under Eddie Howe’s style, but that might not be the case for Antonio Conte and his players, as he told Premier League Productions (24/10/22 at 2:15 pm).

On Sunday, Eddie Howe’s side stuck out their chest and claimed a massive 2-1 win over Spurs to move into the Champions League places.

After 12 Premier League games, with only one defeat to their name this term, the Magpies are two points behind those from north London.

This form from Newcastle shouldn’t be a surprise because, since the turn of the year, only very few teams have been better than them.

Nonetheless, when talking about both teams after yesterday’s game, Sherwood was asked who he thinks will finish higher, before talking about the club’s midfield.

“Newcastle have a lovely balance,” said Sherwood. “They have a nice mixture of their midfield. I believe the manager asks them to do what they like doing and are capable of doing, rather than asking them to do the job the manager wants them to do.

“Newcastle would be able to get a lot more out of their midfield players than Tottenham, are at the moment. But Spurs aren’t doing that bad.

“Who finishes higher? It’s about consistency. At the moment, you would have to say that you would want a season ticket at Newcastle. That’s not answering your question. But I think Harry Kane helps you finish higher up the league.”

NEWCASTLE HAVE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Many knew that Newcastle were coming around the corner, with their big bag of cash and ready to smash through those teams ahead of them.

It’s still early days, but the signs suggest that this could be a much quicker surge into Europe than others think.

At this rate, nevermind fighting for just a European place, it’s Champions League football that they are also pushing for.

Plus, if you look at the so-called bigger games that they played, they picked up a point against Manchester City and Manchester United, lost out to Liverpool in the last minute and they have now beaten Spurs.
