Kris Boyd has noted in his column for The Scottish Sun that he would ‘love to know’ where Connor Goldson feels he can go if the defender leaves Rangers at the end of his contract.
The 28-year-old has eight-months remaining on his deal with the Premiership giants and could leave Ibrox for free in June. Goldson signed his current terms upon joining Rangers from Brighton for £3m in 2018 to play under Steven Gerrard.
He has proven a vital part of the Liverpool icon’s plans in Glasgow since, with 180 outings across all competitions. But Goldson recently shared, via the Daily Record, there has been no progress in negotiations with Rangers over his contract.

Boyd questions why Goldson has yet agreed a new deal with Rangers, given his current contract expires next summer. Suggesting the centre-half may feel the terms on offer are not satisfactory, even though his performances have fallen drastically so far this season.
“Goldson has yet to sign a new contract with the club after months of negotiations,” Boyd wrote. “I’m not privy to those discussions. But I’d love to know where he thinks he’s going to go if he leaves Rangers.
“Is Goldson unhappy with the money he’s being offered compared to the deals some of his teammates are on? I have no inside information on it, but that would be my guess. I just see a player who has let his standards drop through the floor since last season.”

Should Goldson sign a new contract with Rangers?
Gerrard will surely want Goldson to sign a new contract with Rangers, even though Boyd feels his performances have slipped. The Englishman has started 18 of the Gers’ 20 games across all competitions so far this season.
But the finances are unlikely to be the defining factor behind why he is yet to commit his future. Per Salary Sport, Goldson’s current £27k-a-week contract makes him the second-highest earner at Rangers, behind only Alfredo Morelos’ £33k-a-week deal.
Instead, Goldson may be holding out for another crack at the Premier League after failing to establish himself at Brighton. He made just three appearances with the Seagulls after helping the south coast side secure promotion into the English top-flight.
