Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt believes Dan Nlundulu will be arriving on loan from Premier League outfit Southampton on Monday, speaking to Bolton News.
After scoring just four times in 25 games during a short-lived spell at Cheltenham Town in the first half of 2021/22, Nlundulu returned to St Mary’s over the weekend. But it won’t be long before he is on his way back to England’s third tier.
Promotion-chasing Bolton are on the verge of bringing in the 23-year-old until the end of the current campaign. He could even be unveiled before the close of Monday.
“I’d expect Dan will be sorted on Monday,” explains Evatt, who captained Blackpool in the Premier League under Ian Holloway.
“We hope (Nlundulu can give us extra firepower). But I must re-emphasise that I believe we have very good strikers in this building. They will start taking their chances.”

Nlundulu, who represented England at U16 level, has not exactly taken League One by storm during his previous spells in the division. During stints at Cheltenham and Lincoln City, the France-born striker scored just five goals in 50 games.
The hope will be, of course, that Nlundulu can finally unleash his undoubted potential at a Bolton side flying high near the top of the table. Evatt’s Wanderers are currently fifth, level on points with fellow sleeping giants Derby County.
“We had banged the drum with him about getting between the sticks more and getting across people,” Cheltenham boss Wade Elliott said last month.
“He does so much work in the middle third. If he can add (better movement and positioning) to his game, it’ll be a big leap forward for him.”
Parent club Southampton, meanwhile, are prioritising attacking reinforcements of their own before February’s transfer deadline. Talks are underway with Lorient’s Terem Moffi and Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson. Danny Ings has also been linked with a return, while Mislav Orsic is now through the door.
