Tony Cascarino has expressed that he is ‘concerned’ for Everton heading into the new Premier League season and highlighted how they could sign Harry Winks on a loan deal from Tottenham, as he told talkSPORT.
The former striker pointed out that Everton might finish ‘below midtable’ next season and how their financial situation is ‘dire’, as those loan rumours involving Winks indicate.
Whilst Spurs are trying to lure Richarlison to north London from Merseyside, it also seems as though Frank Lampard is keen to add Winks to Everton’s books.

Last summer, the Toffees, then under the stewardship of Rafa Benitez, spent just over £1 million on transfers, years and years after splashing the cash in a crazy fashion.
But their financial situation has turned on its head now, as Cascarino shared his thoughts on their situation and the club’s interest in Winks.
“I would be concerned if I was an Evertonian,” said Cascarino. “They had a dreadful season. Got out of jail, but their transfer activity has so far been Harry Winks being linked.
“More of a loan deal than actually buying. I’m not sure where Everton are as a club. I think it’s going to be another tricky season for Everton.
“They lack a lot of things, certainly defensively. Going into the new season, I wouldn’t be that optimistic. They might lose Richarlison and maybe even Calvert-Lewin.
“There is an air of ‘I am not sure where they are going to go’. I don’t see them being midtable and above. I think it will be below midtable and just above that relegation zone.
“It’s dire (Everton’s financial situation as proven by them trying to loan Winks). There was talk of an embargo, which sort of happened last summer when they spent £1.7 million. Is it going to be the same scenario? The Harry Winks deal feels like, ‘we aren’t going to buy somebody, we are going to try and loan in someone’. I am more pessimistic for Everton.”

ANOTHER RELEGATION BATTLE FOR EVERTON?
A club the size of Everton should, season in and season out, be battling at the top of the tree when it comes to English football, like Spurs are now with Antonio Conte.
But the club has been run in such a shambolic manner that in trying to get back into Europe, they have made matters worse for today and tomorrow.
Frank Lampard may well have been one of England’s best-ever midfielders, but when it comes to being in the dugout, he is inexperienced and he has a thankless task ahead of him.
Not only will he probably lose key players this summer, but there could be the possibility that he can’t replace those players with who he wants in the market.
