Will Antonio Conte leave Tottenham for PSG? And will Mauricio Pochettino make an emotional return to the club? All of these questions hovering over Hotspur Way won’t be pleasing supporters.

The man sitting at the top of Tottenham’s tree, Daniel Levy, is the one with the most power and he can surely influence what does or doesn’t happen to Conte by backing him in the summer transfer market.

European football expert, Julien Laurens, explained that he would be ‘amazed’ if the situation arose where Pochettino returns to Spurs, as he told ESPN.

It has been three years since Levy fired the 50-year-old, who could now be on the verge of getting the chop at PSG, after winning Ligue 1, but failing miserably in the Champions League this season.

All in all, it has thrown about rumours that Conte has offered his services to the Franch club, which, in turn, would have raised questions inside Tottenham as to what on earth is going on.

When Laurens was asked about Pochettino possibly returning to north London, he issued this response.

“I would be amazed, I have to say if he went back,” said Laurens. “I don’t think it would be a good thing, for him.

“I don’t like those returns. I don’t like those romantic stories. ‘Hey, let’s pick it up where we left off’. He left for a reason. He left because things weren’t good between him and Daniel Levy. He came to the end of his cycle.

“I am not sure he is ready now to start another cycle. I’m not even sure Spurs, right now, want to start a new cycle. They need to build on what they have. I’m not sure where he fits into that.

“The problem with him is that he wanted the Manchester United job. We know that for sure. He got interviewed for it. He didn’t get it. He failed. They appointed ten Hag. So, what’s next for him if he doesn’t stay in Paris?”

Regardless of where these rumours are stemming from or how they are coming about, it has to result in Levy digging deep into his pocket and giving Conte what he wants.

On one hand, he could be keen on the PSG job, so it’s his job to prize his eyes away from crossing the channel.

Or it could be a ploy from those within the Conte camp to get what they want in the summer market, which in turn, might just suit Tottenham in the long term.

Either way, the dream scenario for Spurs fans, in the long run, is to have Conte and Harry Kane at the club when the first ball is kicked next season.
