Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Mauro Icardi, and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s previous comments on the Paris Saint-Germain striker will surely encourage the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful.

Tottenham Hotspur interest

Calciomercato have reported that Tottenham are interested in signing Icardi from PSG in the summer of 2022.

Italian giants Juventus are also keen on the 29-year-old Argentina international striker.

What Thomas Tuchel has said

Tuchel, now the manager of Chelsea, worked with Icardi when he was the manager of PSG.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss was hugely impressed by the 28-year-old and raved about him.

FotMob quoted Tuchel as saying about Icardi in January 2020: “The guy is super reliable and very, very professional. He understands football tactically, works defensively and is very, very efficient.

“His work and his reliability for the team is very impressive, but I don’t want to talk about the purchase option.”

Mauro Icardi to Tottenham Hotspur?

Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are the front-three for PSG, and it is going to be hard for Icardi to play week in and week out in former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

However, the 28-year-old is at the top of his game now, and he would make Spurs better and more potent in attack.

Harry Kane needs support and competition, and Icardi would provide just that.

Oh, the striker also scores goals.

The Argentina international scored seven goals and gave three assists in just 11 Ligue 1 starts last season.

Icardi has already scored three goals in four league starts this season.
