Arsenal have stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the captaincy after a disciplinary breach at the weekend.

The striker missed the Gunners’ game at the weekend and he’s going to be left out against West Ham on Wednesday evening as well after this issue.

It’s unknown exactly what Aubameyang has done to receive this level of punishment, but Arsenal have certainly come down hard on the attacker here.

As you can imagine, this news has sparked plenty of reaction amongst the Arsenal fanbase, and one man who seems to be rather shocked by this news is Ian Wright.

Some things in football can’t be described in words, and this image perfectly encapsulates how Arsenal fans may be feeling after this update on Aubameyang.

This news about the striker is as startling as it is shocking, and it’s thrown a real cat amongst the pigeons at the Emirates.

Who will be the next captain? Will Aubameyang be sold? Will Arsenal sign a striker in January? This update offers up so many more questions than answers.

Aubameyang was Arsenal’s star man not too long ago, but now he’s being frozen out of the squad and we have no idea when he will return.

Who’s to say he even will return? Arsenal have been ruthless with star players in the past. Mesut Ozil was completely frozen out this time last year, while Sokratis also suffered a similar fate.

Aubameyang has clearly done something to rub Mikel Arteta up the wrong way, and it will be interesting to see if there’s any way back from here.
