Ian Wright has spoken highly about Brighton & Hove Albion boss and Tottenham Hotspur manager target, Roberto De Zerbi, and the job he is doing for his European-chasing side.
The Arsenal legend thinks Roberto De Zerbi is ‘in the running’ to be the Premier League’s ‘Manager of the Year’, as he edges closer to guiding Brighton to a European finish for the first time in their history, as he told PL Productions (14/05/23 at 7:20 pm).
The 43-year-old was appointed Brighton boss back in September, after Graham Potter headed to Chelsea, and it saw the Seagulls record a 3-3 draw away at Liverpool – it would be the start of things to come.

Since then, the South Coast club, with their front-footed and brave style of play, have wowed the crowd, both of their own and those on the opposition.
It hasn’t just resulted in players getting plaudits left, right and centre. But their manager is now a target of others, with Tottenham expressing interest in the Italian.
In terms of style of play, he is what Tottenham are looking for and Wright thinks, when the season ends, the Brighton man is going to be ‘sought-after’.
“I am quite pleased for him because we know that he moved around a bit in Italy,” said Wright. “I think something like five jobs.
“He’s learning on each one of those journeys. You come to the Premier League. You hear people say ‘he hasn’t got the experience, he hasn’t got this and he hasn’t got that’.
“He is a very good coach. Good backroom team. Good people upstairs at Brighton and they have just let him get on with coaching and what they have done. Now we are seeing somebody who is going to be a sought-after coach.
“He has got to be in the running for Manager of the Year, in respect of what he has done at Brighton – you have to say, it’s an unbelievable achievement up to this point what he is doing. You see that he is a very good coach and you hope he continues that success.”

BRIGHTON’S STYLE OF PLAY UNDER DE ZERBI
On Sunday, Brighton, after previously conceding five to relegation-threatened Everton, stuck their chest out loud and proud against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Not only did they deserve the three points, but they bossed a team that had been sitting at the top of the table for most of the season. Arsenal couldn’t live with them!
Brighton’s style of play, their bravery on the ball and how they have been coached has been spoken about by many, including Pep Guardiola stating that they are the ‘best team in the world’ at playing out from the back.
