The day Mohamed Salah heads for the Liverpool exit door, he will leave as one of the club’s greatest-ever and a Premier League legend.

At 31, it could be argued that he is probably playing the best football of his career, scoring 11 goals and supplying seven assists from 16 Premier League matches for Liverpool this season.

His latest strike came during Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace, which was his 200th goal for the club overall.

Ian Wright lauded Mohamed Salah and what he has achieved by labelling him ‘a really unbelievable signing’, as he told Premier League Productions (11/12/23 at 2:40 pm).

The Arsenal legend just can’t quite believe the consistency levels Mohamed Salah has showcased and how ‘people underestimate’ what he has done.

That out-of-sorts player at Chelsea, who would constantly get the ball stuck under his feet, headed to Italy and returned to the Premier League in style.

The £35 million Liverpool paid for him in 2017 will go down as one of the club’s best-ever purchases and one of the best Premier League buys – his Premier League and Champions League medals are proof of that.

Mohamed Salah hits 200 goals for Liverpool

“You know something, he is one of the greats, without a doubt, in the Premier League,” said Wright.

“I remember when he came from Rome, it was the kind of signing where you went ‘Mo Salah, wasn’t he at Chelsea?! Oh, he’s done okay in Italy. Let’s see how he does’.

“He has been sensational, especially in that Liverpool side that had to chase down Man City like they did, and they did it. His consistency and levels are amazing. A really unbelievable signing.

“I think people underestimate how tough it is to do what he’s doing and continues to do it, especially with that unbelievable front three. The goals he was scoring and the way they were playing.”

Will Mohamed Salah move to Saudi Arabia?

That door was knocked by the ever-growing Saudi Pro League in the summer, but despite a lot of noise, Salah stayed put.

Even probably Jurgen Klopp can’t deny that the powers that be in Saudi Arabia might knock again.

Some argued that the lateness of Saudi’s interest in Salah last summer played a massive part in Liverpool just refusing to even negotiate.

But it will be interesting to see the club and player’s reaction if an offer or offers are put on the table at the start of the 2024 summer.
