Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Arsenal and the ever-increasing role Thomas Partey has in Mikel Arteta’s side.
Partey has been starting in the heart of the Gunners’ midfield on a weekly basis as of late, and Wright believes teams are wising up to just how important the Ghanaian is to the London club.
Indeed, Wright says he’s a little bit worried about Partey against Manchester United, stating that if the Red Devils try to stop the midfielder then Arteta’s side could be in trouble.
What’s been said about Partey?
Wright spoke about Partey’s influence on the team.
“I think that with us, people have recognised that Partey, especially against Newcastle the other day, people are starting to realise that he’s our main guy. If you stop Partey, then I feel like, ‘oh my gosh’, especially with a United team at Old Trafford who will want to go at us,” Wright said.

Vital
It’s taken a while for Partey to warm up in English football, but now we’re seeing just how vital he is to this team.
Against Newcastle, almost everything went through the midfielder, and while he wasn’t playing any defence-splitting passes or making lung-bursting runs up the pitch on the ball, he was always an outlet and he connected the play well.
However, if teams begin to wise up to that, then Arsenal could be in trouble, and that’s seemingly what Wright is worried about.
It will be interesting to see how Manchester United try to handle the 28-year-old at Old Trafford.
