Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang situation at Arsenal and he’s mentioned Eddie Nketiah.
Aubameyang has been stripped of the captaincy and frozen out of the team for a short period.
Wright hopes that the striker is back in the side sooner rather than later as he seemingly doesn’t have much faith in the Gunners’ other number nine options.
Indeed, Wright says that Nketiah needs to do more for the Gunners, while he’s also got a bit of an issue with Alexandre Lacazette’s output.

Wright was dissecting the striker situation at Arsenal and he got onto speaking about Nketiah.
“I hope it’s not going to be one of those where he’s out in the cold. Because, like I say, Eddie Nketiah, he needs to do more. Laca, that goal he scored the other day that was just his sixth shot on target all season, his sixth, and then you have Aubameyang who is one of our greatest goalscorers in respects to the speed he scores when chances are being created, so it doesn’t make sense to me for him to be ostracised for a serious amount of time,” Wright said.

Wright is spot on about Nketiah.
The striker has promised so much for so long, but this is a player who turns 23 at the end of the season.
Yes, he’s young and he has room to grow, but when you look at the impact he’s had at Arsenal compared to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe it’s clear to see that he’s not stepping up in the same way.
This whole Aubameyang debacle could be a chance for Nketiah to really stake a claim at Arsenal, but he needs to start showing what he can do if he’s going to make a splash in north London.
