The BBC Sport pundit spoke ahead of Wolves’ FA Cup clash with fellow Premier League side Manchester United at Molineux.
BBC Sport pundit Ian Wright has spoken out in praise of Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Raul Jimenez ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United on Saturday.
The 27-year-old loanee has been a revelation for Wolves this season, claiming 12 goals and seven assists in the Premier League this campaign plus another two in the FA Cup, according to Transfermarkt.
Many of the Molineux faithful have taken the on-loan Benfica striker to heart and have urged the club on Twitter to sign him on multiple occasions, something which the club may well be looking to do at the end of the season, according to a report in the Express and Star.
Jimenez himself appears open to a permanent switch to Molineux, having told Mexican newspaper Record that he wishes to stay in the Midlands and that he finally feels like he has found a place to call home.
Meanwhile, Wright famously hit the ground running after going from semi-professional Greenwich Borough to Second Division outfit Crystal Palace in 1985, and Jimenez has had just as impressive a first season in the upper echelons of the English game following stints in Mexico, Spain and Portugal.
When asked by the official Wolves website about Jimenez’s transition to the English game, Wright replied: “Being a top striker, and being a new forward in the Premier League, all depends on the service you are getting. If you’re getting the service he has been getting at Wolves… they make a lot of chances.
“If you’re anything worth your salt, you’re going to get chances and then it’s down to you to take those chances and Jimenez has been taking his chances and scored in very big games for Wolves as well, playing really well… Jimenez has done brilliantly well as people can see how he scores at this level.”
