Ian Wright has claimed that Leeds United winger, Dan James, is someone who plays like he is ‘wound-up’.
The former striker added that James is a player you probably need to ‘reel in’ and talk to, as he told the Kelly & Wrighty Show on Premier League Productions (19/05/22 at 12:15 pm).
The Leeds winger was recently sent off for a high and aggressive challenge on Mateo Kovacic during Leeds’ defeat to Chelsea.
Leeds have had a number of players sent off of late as they battle relegation from the Premier League.
Wright was speaking about the message players are getting about being aggressive and how it’s probably too much and, as a result, costing them because they are seeing players sent off.
“I keep going back to it, but Dan James’ challenge,” said Wright. “You could see, he is somebody in there that is very fired up.
“He is a player that plays very quickly. Everything about him is very quickly. He looks wound-up.
“He is somebody you probably want to talk to and reel him in a bit.
“If you are giving that message (to be aggressive) ‘we have to do this because we are going it for our fans. We have to make sure they know we are there’.
“If you are doing that to someone like Daniel James, and you’re not pulling James aside and saying ‘listen, we need you on the pitch’.”

LEEDS CAN’T AFFORD ILL-DISCIPLINE ON THE FINAL DAY
The Premier League relegation battle will go to the final day and Jesse Marsch can’t afford to be dealing with players getting sent off.
Leeds have a tough task on their hands already because they travel to London to take on Brentford.
Thomas Frank’s side have a bit of history with Leeds, added with the fact that it’s the final game of the season and they have Christian Eriksen in their ranks.
If they provide the former Tottenham star with space, then he will eat them alive, so whilst Leeds have to be aggressive, they simply have to manage the situation.
