Ian Wright told ITV (03/07/21 at 11:25 pm) that reported Arsenal target, Raheem Sterling, has been ‘one of the players’ of Euro 2020.
Whilst Sterling didn’t get on the scoresheet during England’s thumping 4-0 win against Ukraine, he did assist Harry Kane for his side’s opening goal, as they progressed through to the semi-finals.
It has been some tournament from the London-born player, who was, amazingly enough, a talking point as to whether he should be selected to start before the tournament started.
But despite Arsenal trying to pursue an ambitious move for the Man City man, he is proving on the international stage that class is permanent, even though those questions are seemingly over his head on the domestic scene.
“Raheem Sterling is one of the players of the tournament,” said Wright. “He finds Harry Kane with a brilliant pass (for the opening goal).
“He comes inside. We need players who can run with the ball, progress the ball, into Harry Kane who can take our half-chances. That’s a half-chance.”

The ball-carrying ability, fearless nature and clinical finishing that Sterling has been showing during this tournament has been quite incredible.
If England go on to bring football home then he may well walk away with the player of the tournament award.
And given that he is on three goals, he is also in for a shout for the Golden Boot – the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku are ahead of him but they have been eliminated.
Either way, the next stop for Sterling and his England players is returning to Wembley and facing off against the technical quality and spirited Danish side.
