Thierry Henry has suggested that Kylian Mbappé will still join Real Madrid despite Micah Richards telling him that he should join Liverpool or Manchester City this summer, as he told CBS Sports (09/03/22 at 10:10 pm).

Paris Saint-Germain were knocked out of the Champions League to Real Madrid on Wednesday night and talk quickly turned to Mbappé’s future.

Liverpool and Real Madrid have been admirers of the speed king for some time, but given that he grew up supporting the Spanish giants, there are suggestions that he could sign on the dotted line at the Bernabeu in the summer on a free, even though PSG are trying to stop that, as reported by the Independent.

Whilst moving to the 13-time European Cup winners still seems like the best bet, you can never rule out the lure of English football, its money and the historical clubs, such as Liverpool.

Either way, when Richards first suggested that Mbappé should head to England, Henry then explained why his eyes might just never be drawn towards Liverpool or Manchester City.

“I don’t think he should go to Real Madrid though,” said Richards. “Like Thierry said, ‘his mind might be already made up’.

“But I would be going to Manchester City or Liverpool. They are the two best teams consistently, I would say in Europe. Yes, people will say ‘Man City have never won the Champions League’. But, the way they play, the points record. I would be going either Liverpool or Man City.”

Henry responded: “You still have players nowadays that still want to play for a team that used to support or like. I can understand that. I don’t know anything.

“But, sometimes, players are like ‘I used to support the team’. I don’t care who plays well in Europe, this is where I want to go because this is what I feel. I think that might be the case with him.”

At the age of 23, it’s probably the right time for Mbappé to leave Paris and write his name into the legendary books of another club.

Liverpool and Real Madrid would be the two obvious ones because of their prestige, history and standing in world football.

Some would point towards Madrid’s lack of power, at this moment in time, but if the La Liga giants are to get back to the top, then players like Mbappé are the ones who can help them get back to where they belong.

If it’s not Spain, then the already-rich and powerful Premier League would only go to the next level with the World Cup winner’s possible arrival.
