Stan Collymore has said that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount should join either Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool or Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

90min reported this month that Liverpool are keen on the 24-year-old.

The Sun have claimed that United want to bring the England international midfielder to Old Trafford.

United head coach Erik ten Hag has personally told his bosses to get a deal done for the Chelsea midfielder, according to the report.

Arsenal and Newcastle United have also been linked with Mount, but former Liverpool striker Collymore believes that the midfielder should pick either Jurgen Klopp’s team or Erik ten Hag’s side.

The pundit, though, has said that Mount is not worth £85 million.

Colymore wrote in CaughtOffSide: “If Chelsea’s reported valuation of £85m for Mason Mount is serious, I would certainly not be entertaining that if I was any of the clubs interested.

“If he really does end up leaving Chelsea for that kind of money, obviously, out of the clubs in the mix to sign him, Manchester United would be favourites because I don’t think Liverpool and Arsenal would go that high when they both have other targets, but as far as I am concerned, he’s not worth that, especially with just one year left on his contract.”

The pundit added: “If I was Mount, with the choices on offer, I would choose to move to either Liverpool or Manchester United.

“Obviously the latter know they will be in the Champions League next season so that may be the deciding factor, but Liverpool will almost certainly be favourites to win the 2023-24 Europa League, so there’s still a lot there for the midfielder to consider.”

Tough to choose between Liverpool and Manchester United for Mason Mount

In our view, it would be tough for Mason Mount to choose between Liverpool and Manchester United.

United and Liverpool are two of the biggest clubs in the world, and the chance to play for either is an honour for players.

Now, of course, the Red Devils will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, but Liverpool have won the Premier League and the European Cup in recent seasons.

We do not think that one season away from Europe’s premier club competition will affect Mount’s decision.

And it should not really.

What Mount needs to evaluate is where he would succeed as a player more and then make a decision.
