Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool beat Nuno’s Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, and Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry was left impressed with one Anfield star.
Liverpool edged past Nottingham Forest 1-0 away from home at the City Ground in the Premier League this past weekend.
Darwin Nunez scored the only goal of the match in the ninth minute of injury time. Alexis Mac Allister provided the assist with a brilliant cross.
The build-up to the goal was hugely controversial, but Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry has noted how good Nunez, 24, was with his headed effort, noting that he himself was not great with the kind of goal that the Uruguay international striker scored.
Thierry Henry praises Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez vs Nottingham Forest
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher asked Henry on Sky Sports News (7:27 pm, March 4, 2024) while analysing the goal from Nunez: “How good was the actual header there when he was almost going backwards on it?”

Henry responded: “I wasn’t that great with that, but where he did ever so well is that you just have to hit it almost going now, because he got pushed a bit, down.
“He met the ball exactly where he should have met, at the peak of his jump, and then bring it down. The defender of Nottingham Forest cannot put any power in his jump because he is back-peddling. It is very difficult to defend like that.”
My View: Darwin Nunez an important player for Liverpool now
In my opinion, Darwin Nunez is now a very important player for Liverpool. Yes, the striker still misses some good chances, but he does score some important goals.
Nunez is erratic in his finishing. He can be unpredictable. But, in my view, he has to start regularly for Liverpool between now and the end of the season.
The 24-year-old creates problems for the opposition defenders with his running and ability to get into good positions.
The Uruguayan striker has scored 10 goals and given seven assists in 16 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool this season.
