Dean Saunders has given his verdict on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez after watching him in action against Burnley at Anfield.
The former Liverpool striker has noted what he finds really strange about Nunez that has made him confused.
So, what has Dean Saunders said about Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez? Let’s take a look.
Dean Saunders gives verdict on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez
Well, Liverpool bounced back from the defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium with a 3-1 victory over Burnley at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
Darwin Nunez scored one of the goals for Liverpool. The 24-year-old Uruguay international striker found the back of the net in the 79th minute with a “brilliant” header.
Former Liverpool player and talkSPORT pundit Dean Saunders was impressed, but he has noted that Nunez misses easy chances which confuses him.
Ex-Chelsea player and talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has also made a similar observation about Nunez.

Saunders said about Nunez on talkSPORT (5:43 pm, February 10, 2024): “And the strange thing for me is the more I watch Nunez, the more confused I am. He scores an unbelievable header, like he has wrapped his neck around a header that was behind him, and then he has two easy chances and misses them, and he looks like he can finish.”
Cundy said about Nunez on talkSPORT (5:45 pm, February 10, 2024): “Just going back to Nunez, I don’t think that I have seen a striker that misses as many easy chances but seems to finish with aplomb the harder chances.”
My View: Darwin Nunez is a big player for Liverpool
While Darwin Nunez does miss chances and is erratic in front of goal at times, he is a very important player for Liverpool. There is no denying that.
Nunez is one of the first names on the Liverpool teamsheet when he is fit and available. The striker has made 15 starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Reds this season. The 24-year-old has scored eight goals and given seven assists in those games.
The striker has scored one goal and provided three assists in five EFL Cup matches, one goal in two FA Cup ties, and two goals and given one assist in six UEFA Europa League games.
Liverpool are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, and I think that Nunez will play a big role for the Reds in that quest.
