Mark Hughes said on talkSPORT (9:17am, January 29, 2021) that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has a weakness is his ankle.
The Manchester United legend made the comments in the wake of Kane suffering ankle injures during Tottenham’s defeat to Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Thursday evening.
Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho has said that the injuries could keep the England international striker on the sidelines for weeks.
United great Hughes was watching the game last night, and while describing Kane as an outstanding player, he did say that the 27-year-old has a weakness in his ankle.
Hughes said about Kane on talkSPORT (9:17am, January 29, 2021): “He got the injury a couple of seasons back, I seem to recall, and it just seems that he has got a weakness in the ankle. I was watching the game last night, and it was certainly an innocuous challenge and clearly it just got over the same ankle, and it has taken him out of the game.
“That will be a worry. Obviously they are aware of it, they are managing it the best they can, but clearly if you are playing at full tilt, you don’t want those nagging thoughts at the back of your mind.”
The Welshman added: “You hope for the best for Harry Kane, who is an outstanding player and has been for many years, and continues to score goals and create chances for Spurs.”
