Speaking to Oh My Goal, Serge Aurier has shared what he almost said to Jose Mourinho after his foul-mouthed comment about his marking.

Aurier was speaking about Mourinho’s comments questioning his ability to mark players during the Amazon Prime All or Nothing documentary, which have been well-documented.

The Tottenham boss used some rather colourful language to describe Aurier’s ability to mark a player, while expressing fear that he was going to give away a penalty.

As you can imagine, Aurier didn’t appreciate being spoken to in that way, and he was on the verge of saying something he may well have regretted at that moment.

“Yeah, yeah I swear to you at the moment, on my daughter’s life I was about to respond,” Aurier said.

I’m telling the truth, I was seriously going to respond, I was about to tell him, and at the moment I promise you, I wanted to say to him ‘don’t pick me in the team, pick someone else’.

“In the past I would have responded directly, because if you’re scared of me, you don’t pick me, if you don’t trust someone you don’t let them deal with your stuff, right? So if you’re scared of me pick someone else. So yeah, I was about to say I swear was about to say ‘pick someone else!’.”

Luckily, Aurier managed to bite his tongue and he remains a key player at Tottenham.

Players and managers don’t always agree on things, but as long as things don’t get too sour, situations can be rectified.

Of course, Mourinho and Aurier haven’t always had the best relationship. After all, the right-back reportedly left a game at half-time a few weeks ago, but it seems as though they’ve been able to work through things.

It is interesting to hear Aurier’s side of this tale, but it’s probably best for all parties to leave these issues in the past now.
