Leeds United central defender Liam Cooper has raved about his teammate Joe Gelhardt on LUTV and has praised him for his goal against Chelsea.

Cooper has said that Gelhardt has been working hard for Leeds and deserves his place in the team.

The Scotland international centre-back has added that he was screaming in delight when Gelhardt scored for Leeds against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.

The 19-year-old striker found the back of the net in the 83rd minute.

Leeds lost the Premier League game 3-2.

Cooper told LUTV about Gelhardt: “Honestly I was delighted for him. I was screaming in my living room at home.

“Absolutely buzzing for him. He has worked hard, he has come in, he has bought into what the manager wants.”

Leeds United gem

In our opinion, Gelhardt is a Leeds gem.

The 19-year-old has already shown his maturity and has scored for Leeds in the Premier League.

The teenager, who cost Leeds £1 million (The Sun), can only get better.

Now, we know that Patrick Bamford is the first-choice striker for Leeds.

However, the England international is injured at the moment, and Bielsa has got the golden opportunity to make use of Gelhardt now.

Cooper’s comments about Gelhardt suggest that the Leeds teenager is working hard in training and is learning how to operate under Bielsa.

That is very encouraging indeed.
