Ally McCoist has claimed that he thought Jude Bellingham was going to secure a transfer to a team like Arsenal ahead of rumours that he is about to join Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old hasn’t played in the Premier League before and many were expecting him to join a team in England’s top-flight ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
But Jude Bellingham is going to continue his career abroad, with The Guardian reporting that he is nearing a move to Real Madrid – it’s a blow for a team like Liverpool.

Whilst a team like Arsenal weren’t spoken about in the way Liverpool were when discussing Bellingham’s future, those in north London still had a chance simply because they are returning to Champions League football next season.
Playing against the elite requires signing players who are of an elite talent and Bellingham certainly fits that bill – Gary Neville previously lauded him as a ‘generational talent’.
But when the world’s biggest team and the current European champions come knocking, then it’s hard to say no, as Ally McCoist explained on talkSPORT Breakfast (04/05/23 at 7:20 am).
On if Bellingham should go to Real Madrid: “Absolutely, why not?!” responded McCoist. “Everyone automatically thought he would go to a Manchester City, maybe even an Arsenal, or whatever it might be and splash the cash on him.
“But why not? Go to Spain. Go to Real Madrid. Have a wonderful career there, then perhaps, towards the end of his career come back to England.
“The guy is 19 or 20. I can’t remember a young British footballer, really like this, having the world at his feet. That’s what he has got.
“I think the whole thing has been run perfectly. His family are involved in the situation. His mum and dad. I think it’s brilliant. I am delighted that he is broadening his horizons in another country.”

REAL MADRID’S MIDFIELD
With Arsenal returning to the Champions League, their midfield is going to understand the levels of the game because, whilst they have faired very well in the Premier League this season, the Champions League is a different beast.
Forget about Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, those two, from Real Madrid’s perspective, can happily hang up their boots and retire because the talent beneath them is crazy.
From Eduardo Camavinga to the possible arrival of Bellingham, this is a midfield that is going to sing and dance for years and years to come.
