Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has been discussing Charles De Ketelaere amid Leeds’ strong interest in the Belgian midfielder.
The Whites are reportedly very keen on the Club Brugge midfielder, but, unfortunately, this signing isn’t one that’s thought to be imminent.
Indeed there is something of a race of his signature going on at the moment, and according to Hay, it’s widely thought that the Belgian will end up joining AC Milan.
In fact, Hay says that he’s spoken to someone in Belgium and they’ve told him that De Ketelaere wants to go to Italy.
However, some within The Athletic who know the Italian market very well have cast doubts over this deal as Milan continue to falter this summer.
What’s been said?
Hay shared what he’s heard about the Leeds target.
“De Ketelaere the feeling everywhere has been that he will go to Milan in Italy, but Milan are going through a strange period at the moment, they don’t seem that organised this summer or that decisive. I spoke to someone in Belgium the other day who said that he thought De Ketelaere’s preference would be to go to Italy, but speaking to our guys who know the Italian market, they don’t know what’s going on at Milan right now,” Hay said.

Chance to swoop
De Ketelaere may want to go to Milan, but given I Rossoneri’s tendency to falter in this transfer window so far, there could be a chance for Leeds to swoop.
Milan have already lost out on Sven Botman this summer and it looks like they will be losing out on Renato Sanches too, despite reportedly being very close to signing both players at different points.
De Ketelaere could be a much more straightforward deal to complete, but as Milan have shown this summer, they can sometimes be their own worst enemies.
Don’t count Leeds out of this race just yet.
