Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has revealed that he regrets leaving the club in 2018 following the expiration of his contract.
Speaking on the Athletic Football podcast, the now 29-year-old free agent claimed that he made a mistake leaving his boyhood club. Wilshere also revealed that a contract was ‘on the table’ for him following the arrival of Unai Emery.
However, Wilshere and his agent decided that a new adventure would be for the best. The former England international moved to West Ham, but the move failed to work out with injuries once again plaguing the midfielder.
Wilshere was a firm fan favourite at the Emirates despite his injury problems. And the Stevenage-born playmaker believes he made the wrong decision leaving Arsenal with a contract on offer.
The midfielder said: “Honestly, I should have never left. That’s nothing against West Ham, it could have been anyone, but I shouldn’t have left Arsenal.”
Wilshere partially played for Bournemouth last season as the Championship side made it to the play-offs. However, the Cherries were unable to clinch promotion back to the Premier League.

With the midfielder a free agent, a club will be allowed to sign Wilshere at any point during the season. And for Arsenal fans, they will be hoping that the talented 29-year-old playmaker can find a new club this campaign.
