Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Ben Woodburn had joined Hearts on a season-long loan deal.

What’s the story?

Well, Jürgen Klopp has strangely allowed the 21-year-old to leave Anfield, despite the fact he only has a year left on his contract.

Often with loan deals, we see the club announce a contract extension before sending players with expiring terms away.

However, Liverpool’s announcement has no mention of Woodburn signing a new deal before heading to Scotland.

The 10-cap Wales international’s current deal expires in May 2022.

Woodburn impressed in pre-season, with some saying that Klopp and Pep Lijnders were blown away by his displays in training.

However, they clearly weren’t enough to keep him at Anfield.

What should Liverpool do with Ben Woodburn?

In our view, Woodburn doesn’t really have a future at Liverpool, but the Reds don’t seem to have accepted that yet.

After joining Hearts, the £12,000-a-week man has now been on four loans since 2018.

Woodburn has spent time with Sheffield United, Oxford United and Blackpool, failing to set the world alight at any of these clubs.

Unless he has one of the best campaigns in Scottish football history, it also feels unlikely that anything he does in Scotland will change his role at Liverpool.

Sadly, things look bleak for the academy graduate at Anfield.

Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about the club’s announcement
