Jose Enrique has surprisingly stated on his Instagram story that Newcastle United shouldn’t secure the transfer of Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane, even if he is ‘world-class’.
The former Premier League left-back pointed out that the England captain is going to be 30 at the start of next season, and that’s why Eddie Howe’s high-flying Newcastle should avoid.
There have been previous suggestions that Champions League-chasing Newcastle should sign the player and, in truth, at the rate the Magpies are going, they will finish above Antonio Conte’s men this season.
Kane has less than 18 months left remaining on his current contract at Hotspur Way, with no signs that he will sign a new deal.
The 29-year-old is searching for trophies to add to his record-breaking goals. If the player does move, then whilst the Newcastle project is exciting and ahead of schedule, he needs to go to a ready-made club that is winning silverware.
Nonetheless, this is what Enrique had to say regarding Newcastle possibly signing Kane.
“I love Harry Kane and he is a world-class striker,” said Enrique. “But I don’t believe Newcastle should be looking for a striker that is 30 by the start of next season.”

These next two transfer windows, or these next six or so months, could be crucial in what happens with Kane.
If Conte is backed the way he wants to be backed, then he should extend his own stay at the club, which then increases the chances of the team winning a trophy and that puts a smile on Kane’s face.
Will it be a case of Conte signs, then Kane will follow suit and vice-versa?
Well, Kane’s goals, which should see him become England’s top-goalscorer of all time, the Premier League’s top goal-getter and Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer by the time he is finished, needs that finishing touch of silverware.
