Club Brugge star Hans Vanaken insists that he loves life at the Belgian giants amid ongoing links with Premier League outfit West Ham United, speaking to MidMid.
If putting up your Christmas tree marks the beginning of the festive period, then reports linking Vanaken with a move to the London Stadium marks the beginning of a new transfer window.
Reports suggesting that the Belgium international could be on his way to the English capital are nothing new after all.
West Ham submitted a £14 million bid for Vanaken in September 2020. It is understood they expressed their interest again a few months ago.
But while the lure of the Premier League tends to attract players like moths to a flame, Vanaken appears to be immune to its allure.
The free-scoring midfielder has spent six trophy-filled years at the Jan Breydel Stadium. He’s won a quartet of Jupier League titles and featured regularly in the Champions League.
And it would take something very special to turn his head.
Can West Ham finally sign Hans Vanaken?
“It has to be right and feel good, I’m not going to just move to one team or another,” says Vanaken.
The 29-year-old is just two goals away from reaching double figures for an eleventh season in a row.
“You have to find the right feeling (with a new club). You have to have that gut feeling,” Vanaken adds.
“But there is recognition from Club Brugge for me, that gives me confidence.

“That’s why I like being here.”
When West Ham offered £14 million for Vanaken 14 months ago, they had finished 16th in the Premier League table a few weeks earlier.
Just five points above the relegation zone.
According to Voetbal24, the club’s rapid rise form relegation battlers to Champions League chasers under David Moyes has given the Hammers a far better chance of securing Vanaken’s signature this time around.
Vanaken, however, is in no rush to walk away from a club well-laced to secure yet another league title.
