Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter to rumours that Aston Villa could splash big-money on Tammy Abraham.
It seems as though both Villa and Leeds are going to put some serious dough on the table this summer in their bid to take that next step.
Whilst Villa hunt for a familiar face in Abraham, Leeds are ‘very close’ to signing Cagliari midfielder, Nahitan Nandez.
And with rumours suggesting that Villa are willing to pay £40 million for Abraham’s poaching talents, La Nuova Sardegna have reported that it might take £30 million for Leeds to lure Nandez towards their direction.
Some Leeds fans feel this is a progressive move from Dean Smith’s side, whilst others pointed out that they are potentially spending less on other players and getting better value.
Of course, Abraham isn’t a Villa player yet, but given that he helped them earn promotion three seasons ago, it’s understandable why they would want to re-unite with the Chelsea academy product.
Villa have Ollie Watkins leading their line – and he did an outstanding job in his debut campaign last season – but its clear depth is needed in the final third.
Signing someone like Abraham, who struck 15 Premier League goals two seasons ago, would be a signal of intent from the Midlands outfit.
Either way, after battling it out in the Championship a couple of seasons ago, both Villa and Leeds are now trying to take that step to get back into Europe.
It just goes to show how far they have come since the days Marcelo Bielsa was allowing Villa to score an uncontested goal at Elland Road.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Leeds fans reacting to the Villa/Abraham rumour:
