Steven Gerrard has said on BT Sports (11:26pm, May 28, 2022) that Liverpool forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane should not leave Anfield after the defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final.
The Aston Villa manager and Liverpool legend has asked why Salah and Mane would want to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side in the summer transfer window.
Gerrard made the comments following Liverpool’s defeat to Madrid in the final of the UEFA Champions League on Saturday evening.
In the build-up to the game, Liverpool forward Salah had said that he will stay at Anfield next season.
Mane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

Steven Gerrard on Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane
Gerrard said on BT Sports (11:26pm, May 28, 2022): “Salah has already said that he is going to be here next year, I know there is a bit of noise around Mane.
“But why would you want to leave this Liverpool team because you know that they are going to be competitive in the business end of the season?”
Anfield stay
In our view, Liverpool should do their best to keep both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at Anfield next season.
Now, we know that the two forwards are out of contract at the Merseyside club in the summer of 2023.
So, there is a chance that the two star players could leave Liverpool on a free transfer at the end of the next season.
However, Liverpool have to take that risk now.
Liverpool could win only the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup this season and missed out on the Premier League and the Champions League.
The Reds simply cannot let the team break up now.
